Stoney Nakoda — RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate suspicious death on Stoney Nakoda First Nation – Update #2

On Sept. 8, 2023, Stoney Nakoda RCMP responded to a disturbance on Stoney Nakoda Nation. Upon arrival, Donald Nepoose (55), a resident of Stoney Nakoda, was located deceased. The manner of death was deemed to be a homicide. After a thorough investigation, on March 1, 2024, a 48-year-old individual, a resident of Stoney Nakoda, was arrested and has been charged with second-degree murder.

Vermilion River County — Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit lays charges in homicide investigation near Vermillion

On March 9, 2024, at 1:57 a.m., Vermillion RCMP received a weapons complaint from a rural residence in Vermilion River County. Upon arrival, officers located a deceased person. The deceased has been identified as Edmonton resident 47-year-old Edward Hubert Beharrell. Based on the immediate suspicious nature of the death, police arrested the other occupant of the home, and the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was deployed and has taken carriage of the investigation. RCMP have charged a 62-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, with manslaughter with a firearm.

Ponoka — Ponoka RCMP and ALERT arrest repeat offender in Ponoka

Following a joint investigation by Ponoka RCMP and ALERT, a repeat drug dealer has been arrested. Police seized a variety of drugs and a stolen firearm. Leduc — Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction recover stolen welder and trailer listed on Facebook Marketplace

On March 4, 2024, Leduc RCMP received a report of a welder and welding trailer stolen from the province of Saskatchewan listed for sale on Facebook Marketplace in Leduc. Leduc RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (LCRU) took carriage of the investigation, and with the assistance of the Central Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, RCMP determined the welder and welding trailer were at a residence in the South Park area of Leduc. On March 6, 2024, police attended the residence and arrested one male.

Breton — Officer of the RCMP Central Alberta Crime Reduction Unit charged with assault during arrest

During the 2023 wildfire season members of the Central Alberta Crime Reduction Unit were assigned to investigate a small group of known offenders that were believed to be committing thefts in the Drayton Valley, Alta., area during evacuations. During the operation, officers recovered stolen vehicles and items including a Ford F250 pickup, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup, an ATV and a truck canopy. RCMP arrested three repeat offenders who were charged for various offences.

Red Deer — Red Deer RCMP arrest pair in stolen vehicle

Early in the new year, Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) laid charges following an investigation into the theft of a motor vehicle. On Jan. 2, 2024, CRT were conducting patrols when officers located two individuals in a vehicle that had been stolen out of Red Deer the day prior. Officers arrested both suspects. A 39-year-old individual, a resident of Blackfalds, Alta., was arrested and charged with the following offences:

Cold Lake — Cold Lake RCMP seek assistance in identifying suspect

On Feb. 18, 2024, at 9:19 a.m., Cold Lake RCMP received a report of a break and enter to a business on Highway 55 in Cold Lake. Upon investigation, it was determined that at some point overnight, eight vehicles were stolen, three vandalized, along with extensive exterior damages to the business.
