Alberta RCMP issues 1,982 tickets over Labour Day long weekend Edmonton - From Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, your Alberta RCMP conducted enhanced traffic safety enforcement across the province, resulting in 1,982 traffic safety infractions. Of the 1,982 tickets issued, 990 were for speeding, 35 for distracted driving, and 55 were issued for not wearing a seatbelt. Additionally, 92 drug or alcohol impaired drivers were removed from the roads.

Gift Lake Metis Settlement — Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide in Gift Lake Metis Settlement

On August 23, 2024, at approximately 2:00 a.m., High Prairie RCMP responded to a call of an unresponsive male in a vehicle. Upon their arrival, the male was deceased having injuries consistent with a gun shot wound. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit were called and have taken carriage of the investigation. RCMP have determined the victim to be 41-year-old Gift Lake Metis Settlement resident, Bradley Lamouche.

Nordegg — Rocky Mountain House RCMP report missing hiker found deceased after 3-day search

On Aug. 5, 2024, Rocky Mountain House RCMP were advised of an overdue 55-year-old hiker in the Nordegg backcountry. The hiker's vehicle was quickly located in the Coral Creek staging area. On Aug. 6, 2024, RCMP, supported by Rocky Mountain House Search and Rescue (SAR) and Kananaskis Emergency Services began an exhaustive search of the area utilizing volunteers and helicopters.

Warburg — Thorsby RCMP arrest male after several serious violent incidents in Warburg

On Aug. 20, 2024, at 7:44 p.m., Thorsby RCMP received a report of stabbing that occurred on 54 Avenue in Warburg. Upon arrival, emergency workers tended to the victim who had several serious injures. The victim was taken to hospital where they are expected to recover. While officers were assisting the victim, they were approached by an aggressive individual who police soon learned was their suspect in the stabbing. The suspect was quickly arrested. During the arrest, the suspect spat on officers.

Lac La Biche — Lac La Biche RCMP recover prohibited firearm

On Aug. 17, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Lac La Biche RCMP received a report of suspicious behaviour at the Kikino Rodeo near the Silver Birch Resort. Witnesses described a male waving a firearm around causing a disturbance and inciting fear to the rodeo attendees.

Red Deer — Red Deer RCMP crime reduction team arrest two individuals

On Aug. 20, 2024, at approximately 5 p.m., Red Deer RCMP Crime reduction team, with the assistance of the Central Alberta Crime Reduction Unit and RCMP Air Services, arrested two individuals in the Inglewood neighbourhood of Red Deer. Officers were conducting patrols within Red Deer and located a driver that was prohibited and wanted on warrants. As the investigation continued, officers located Methamphetamine and Cocaine in their possession, along with items consistent with drug trafficking.

Grande Prairie — Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Team make arrest following traffic stop

On Aug. 7, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP crime reduction team were conducting routine patrols when they observed a truck that had parked in two parking stalls, including a disabled parking stall.
