Janvier Evacuation Alert

This is an Alberta Emergency Alert for the community of Janvier and Janvier First Nation 194. Janvier is under an Evacuation Alert due to wildfire. Area: (Janvier Hamlet and Janvier 194)

Update 13: Alberta wildfire information update (July 17, 3:30 p.m.)

Residents of Garden River who have been evacuated for seven days or more can now start applying for one-time emergency evacuation payments. Increased fire danger and activity have led to 47 new wildfire starts in the past 24 hours and there are currently 128 active wildfires burning in Alberta. 

Carstairs — Alberta RCMP officer involved shooting near Carstairs – Update #3

On June 22, 2024, at 11:40 p.m., Alberta RCMP were notified by the Calgary Police Service of a suspect that had previously fled from police and was being covertly followed by HAWKS helicopter. In coordination with officers from the Calgary Police Service, RCMP from Didsbury, Alta. and Olds, Alta., set up a covert tire deflation device and was successful in disabling the vehicle on the QE II Highway near Highway 581.
