Fort McMurray — Wood Buffalo RCMP investigate firearms offences, suspect arrested

On Sept. 5, 2024, Wood Buffalo RCMP Crime Reduction Unit and Police Dog Services were conducting patrols in Janvier, Alta. and Chipewyan Prairie First Nation, Alta. A male wanted by police for breach of probation was seen in a residence on Chipewyan Prairie First Nation. A judicially authorized warrant to enter the residence and arrest the male was obtained by police. RCMP subsequently entered the residence and arrested the 31-year-old resident without further incident.

On Sept. 11, 2024, Lloydminster RCMP responded to a report of three individuals who were located deceased. There will be an increased police presence in the area of 50 Street and 47 Avenue as Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit continues their investigation. There is no risk to the public at this time. Strathmore — RCMP Major Crimes investigating Strathmore homicide

On Sept. 11, 2024, at approximately 1:35 a.m., a fire was noted on the side of the road by a motorist who was driving on Township Road 233 near Highway 791, in Rocky View County, Alta. Police were called to the scene and once the fire was out, they discovered a deceased person. An autopsy will be completed on Sept. 12, 2024, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary.

Westlock — Westlock RCMP investigate aggravated assault

On Sept. 7, 2024, at 9:15 p.m., Westlock RCMP received a report of an aggravated assault near Long Island Lake, located north of Westlock. Upon arrival, emergency crews tended to the female victim who was transported to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. Westlock RCMP supported by the Eastern Alberta General Investigations Unit continue to investigate.
