Red Deer — Red Deer RCMP make arrest following surveillance operation

On June 10, 2024, officers from your Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), while on routine patrol, observed a vehicle with a licence plate cover that appeared to be painted white. This suspicious modification prompted officers to initiate surveillance of the vehicle with the assistance of Air Services. Upon attempting a traffic stop, the vehicle fled the scene at a high rate of speed. In response, officers engaged in covert surveillance to monitor the vehicle's movements while minimizing risk to the public.

MD of Smoky River — McLennan RCMP conducts drug seizure thanks to information from the public

On June 18, 2024, McLennan RCMP received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the MD of Smoky River. Officers attended and located a pickup truck stuck in a farmer's field. Two individuals were located on scene and the truck was discovered to be stolen. Both individuals were arrested. A search of the truck incidental to arrest resulted in the following seizure:

Strathcona County — Strathcona County RCMP Drug Unit make significant drug seizure

Strathcona County RCMP Drug Section has successfully disrupted drug trafficking operations in the area. During a lengthy investigation spanning from November 2023 to May 2024, the unit obtained twenty-four judicial authorizations and executed two residential search warrants and two vehicle search warrants in Edmonton. Two individuals involved in drug trafficking in Strathcona County and the greater capital region, were arrested in this operation. During the search warrants police located:

Maskwacis — Maskwacis RCMP stepping up patrols after firearm related calls - Update

RCMP are providing more information into the June 10, 2024, incident in which the Maskwacis RCMP responded to a report of a shooting in Samson Cree Nation, Alta. An investigation into the incident revealed that multiple bullets were fired into a residence occupied by several children and adults.  The investigation by police led to the arrest of two individuals and the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Wetaskiwin, Alta. During that search warrant execution, police recovered prohibited firearms and magazines.

Lloydminster — Lloydminster RCMP advises of heavy police presence – Update #2

On June 11, 2024, at approximately 7:06 a.m., Lloydminster RCMP received reports of a home invasion within the community. Upon arrival, RCMP located two individuals with gunshot wounds, who were later airlifted to the hospital. These individuals were later identified as being among the nine suspects who perpetrated the break and enter and are both are expected to survive. The investigation has also revealed the identity of a third suspect, leaving six as of yet unidentified.

Cochrane — Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit seek public assistance in ongoing human remains investigation – Update #2

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) continue to investigate found human remains that were located in Bow Valley Provincial Park on Nov. 3, 2023. An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 6, 2023, and the manner of death was deemed a homicide. The autopsy also confirmed the remains were those of a male. Alberta RCMP MCU are seeking the public's assistance to identify the male.

Siksika — Gleichen RCMP advise residents to shelter in place – Update #2

On June 15, 2024, Gleichen RCMP received a report that a male sustained a serious injury to his arm from a believed gun shot in the Map 8 area of Siksika Nation. RCMP located the victim and ensured he received medical attention. The investigation revealed who the suspect was and RCMP quickly located him. For everyone's safety, area residents were either evacuated and a shelter in place was issued. The RCMP Emergency Response Team attended and contacted the suspect, who was in a residence. The suspect surrendered to officers.
