On Feb. 7, 2024, members of RCMP's Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the city of Wetaskiwin. Officers stopped a Mazda 3 for a violation of the vehicle equipment regulation. During the traffic stop, officers observed open alcohol in the vehicle. Upon further search, police located a stolen KSG Shotgun with ammunition in the back seat as well as small amount of suspected Methamphetamine. The occupants were arrested.
