Lloydminster — Lloydminster RCMP seek public assistance in identifying suspects of an attempted abduction

On March 24, 2024, Lloydminster RCMP received a report of an attempted abduction in Lloydminster. A vehicle containing two male suspects was reported to have pulled up alongside a female walking and asked if she wanted a ride. The female declined and walked away. The vehicle continued to follow the female at a slow rate of speed until it stopped, and both occupants exited the vehicle and attempted to force the female into the front of the vehicle. The female began screaming and fighting which caught a witness's attention, and allowed her to escape.

On March 21, 2024, at 7:50 p.m., Wood Buffalo RCMP were dispatched to a local drop-in centre for complaints of a male acting erratically and committing an indecent act. Upon arrival, the suspect was identified by police, arrested and lodged into cells at the Wood Buffalo Detachment.

Jasper — Jasper RCMP execute drug-related search warrant - Update

On Jan. 12, 2024, Jasper RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services and Edson RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit, executed a search warrant at a Jasper residence. The 6-month-long investigation, assisted by RCMP Western Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, focused on the distribution of illicit street drugs in the Jasper community. Since the last release, the drugs have been analysed and confirmed as being Cocaine, Methamphetamine, MDMA and Ketamine. As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old individual, a resident of Jasper, was charged with:

Red Deer — Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigates homicide in Red Deer

On March 21, 2024, at 3:51 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report of a shooting that occurred at an apartment building on Parke Avenue in Red Deer. As officers arrived, a suspect was observed running from the area. After a short foot pursuit, the male was arrested and a firearm seized. A second male suspect was also located near the scene and arrested. Other officers arriving on scene located a deceased person who has been identified as 54-year-old Red Deer resident Jason Cory Worobec. The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit was dispatched and has taken over the investigation.

Strathmore — Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit charge male with firearms offences

On Feb. 27, 2024, Strathmore RCMP received a complaint in relation to firearms offences occurring in rural Alberta. Evidence showed that a male was video recording shooting out of moving vehicles and shooting near roadways with handguns and long guns.

Wetaskiwin — Wetaskiwin RCMP investigating a theft over $5000 from the Canadian Tire

Wetaskiwin RCMP are investigating after a report that on March 8, 2024, at approximately 10 a.m., three male suspects attended the Canadian Tire in Wetaskiwin. These three individuals managed to access the locked shelves containing powered hand tools. The suspects stole a significant amount of power tools under their clothing. Leduc — Leduc RCMP investigate series of break and enters

On Feb. 26, 2024, at approximately 1:11 a.m., Leduc RCMP received a report of a break and enter to the L.A. Nissan dealership in Leduc. Two unknown individuals entered the building causing damage and attempted to steal a vehicle. Both suspects left the area in what is believed to be a blue Nissan SUV with aftermarket headlights installed.

Lac La Biche — Lac La Biche RCMP execute search warrant related to firearms investigation

On March 15, 2024, the Lac La Biche RCMP, with the assistance of RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Police Dog Services, and RCMP East Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit, executed a search warrant at two residences in Lac La Biche County following a weapons complaint. As a result of the search, a male was taken into custody on three outstanding warrants. Four firearms, a large quantity of ammunition and a prohibited device were seized.

Wetaskiwin — Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime reduction Unit seize stolen firearm during traffic stop

On Feb. 7, 2024, members of RCMP's Wetaskiwin Crime Reduction Unit were conducting proactive patrols in the city of Wetaskiwin. Officers stopped a Mazda 3 for a violation of the vehicle equipment regulation. During the traffic stop, officers observed open alcohol in the vehicle. Upon further search, police located a stolen KSG Shotgun with ammunition in the back seat as well as small amount of suspected Methamphetamine. The occupants were arrested.

Lamont County — Fort Saskatchewan RCMP lay several charges following stolen property investigation

In October 2023, Fort Saskatchewan RCMP Traffic/Crime Reduction Unit (TCRU) located a stolen vehicle with a stolen firearm inside, on 48 Avenue in Bruderheim, Alta. Due to the increase of rural crime, an investigation was launched to determine the person(s) responsible. Red Deer — Red Deer RCMP advise of heavy police presence – Update #2

On March 18, 2024, at 4:36 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report of a stabbing in the area of 50 Avenue and 52 Street in Red Deer. Witnesses report that the victim was attacked by an unknown suspect who then fled the scene. This victim was taken to hospital with serious life-threatening injuries. Red Deer RCMP immediately deployed all available resources to the area to tend to the victim and locate the suspect.

Clairmont — Grande Prairie RCMP investigating found human remains

On March 14, 2024, Grande Prairie RCMP responded to a report of found human remains on Range Road 55, south of Township Road 730, near the community of Clairmont. RCMP have identified the deceased as Echer Marcial (34), a male resident of Grande Prairie. RCMP Major Crimes Unit is now investigating and are considering the death suspicious. An autopsy will be conducted on March 18, 2024, at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton.
